Grant Request: Recognition for Long-Term Voluntary Community Moderation
Good day, Heima Community,
My name is Sky @Sky0x4, and I joined Heima (formerly Litentry) as a community investor back in early 2021.
Background
Over time, my role naturally evolved into that of a voluntary, unofficial community support person. During the Litentry-Polkadot Crowd loan period (2021 – March 2022), I played a significant part in educating the community and answering questions about the process. Later, a group of five community members, including myself, were onboarded by the BD team as "Light Rangers" - a special program designed to create community ambassadors focused on engagement and education.
I have been the only Light Ranger who has continued moderating the chat consistently from those early days until this past week. Over the years, I've coordinated with multiple BD teams and staff as they changed, and to my knowledge, I am among the very few community members, outside the core team (Kai, Kevin, and others), who have stayed with this project throughout its journey.
Contribution Without Compensation
From the early days when Litentry had paid moderators like Gilang, through to today's paid staff such as Iris and the Ecosystem team, I have never received nor requested any compensation for my work.
I have remained the sole active moderator consistently working to control spam, restrict harmful content, and keep the Telegram chats clean, while also directing unresolved queries to the appropriate teams. In 2022, Remy (the BD lead at the time) offered me a formal moderator position with fixed compensation. I declined, choosing to remain an unofficial moderator without a strict work framework.
Despite that choice, my actual contribution has, in practice, matched or exceeded that of formal employees over the years.
The Request
To summarize: since 2022, I have served as an active, unofficial community support member - keeping the chat spam-free, blocking phishing attempts, answering user queries, and routing issues to the right teams. I have in all capacity tried to maintain synergies around the Project, its token and the products.
This spans over 50 months of continuous, uncompensated work.
I am requesting a one-time compensation grant at a rate of $25/month for this period, totaling approximately $1,250 USD (or ≈10,000 HEI).
On the Moderator Offer
The team has also offered to bring me on as an official moderator. I would be glad to accept this transition from Light Ranger to Mod, continuing the same work in a formal capacity.
Closing
I hope the community and team will consider my contributions over these years - spanning two bear markets - and the fact that I have never sought or received compensation in any form until now.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
